Things to Be Aware of and Keep in Mind
- In preparation for PD on Tuesday - I ask that you all bring in an artifact (a tangible representation of you, your work and/or your school) that you believe reflects your guiding principles.
- In preparation for our Tuesday Morning Trip - Map and Seating Plan
- Tuesday PD Schedule - You will have a P&D / classroom setup time and lunch back to back when we arrive. We will begin our PD in Ms. Miller's Room (Grade 5) at 11:10 a.m.
- PD ends at 2:30; however, the building will remain open till 3:45.
- In preparation for Wednesday -
- Please have a chart of student names (large visible class list) to bring outside so that your students can find you.
- Please make sure that your desks are all in pods (4-5 is the ideal number, especially for the consideration of push in services)
- Please make sure your class is free of student names / materials from the previous year, store bought or handmade posters with content that has not been taught, and please make sure that your classroom is free from clutter.
- During the year, classroom doors will remain locked, but open during the day. (If there are safety concerns with students and your door needs to be closed, please discuss these with me.)
- Staff Sign In & Out - For school safety and payroll accountability, all staff members will sign in and out each morning and afternoon in the office.
- Per union contract, "teachers shall be at their assignment at least 15 minutes before the start of the school and shall remain at their assignments 15 minutes beyond." That is from 8:00-2:30, with your active schedule starting at 8:15. Please be at your posts by 8:15 and ready to receive students.
- Parking - for students safety, we will begin to close the gate in the lot at 8:00 am. As the year progresses, the first response team and I will evaluate the best entry points for all students and may adjust morning and afternoon dismissal. For now, we will shut the gate in order to limit the traffic into the parking from families wanting to drop off students. Thank you for your understanding!
- Welcome Letter - In case you missed it. Here is my Welcome Letter. Moving forward, I will be sending you this weekly update every Friday. It has a lot of information about the week ahead, so please read it.
- Important school operations will be a regular part of this update.
- Don't forget to complete the necessary forms for After School Activities and Leadership roles! They are not going to automatically carry over from years prior. If you are interested in a role, or would like to participate as a lead this year, please complete your Statement of Interest.
Reminders from the Office
- Please post attendance by 8:45
- Please avoid contacting the office until after 9:00 due to heavy morning traffic
- Clear out your mailboxes by Tuesday, September 3, 2019
- Make sure that you have your class cumulative records
