Astronomer Maria Mitchell was the first woman inducted into the Academy of Arts and Science. She lived her life in pursuit of knowledge that led her to break many barriers in the 19th century for women in science. She discovered a comet and lived in Lynn until her death in 1889.

        • We will be in Glenda's office. Please bring your laptops, planned lessons for next week's Math, a task that has not been presented and we want to further develop, and materials that might go along with the task.
  • MCAS is Here! MCAS begins this week. Grade 3 will be testing in ELA. 8:30 start

    • Thursday, March 31, 2022 (Session 2)
      • Grade 2 and Grade 3 will need to switch Prep times on Tuesday and Thursday next week due to MCAS.
      • Supports: Reading and ESL teachers will rotate to help support classrooms during testing. Look for your name on each week's MCAS directions document.

      • Reminder - specials have been switched.
  • All lunches will be back in the cafeteria/gym starting on Monday, March 28.  Drop off and pick up your class in the cafe each day. Please have discussions with your class about proper behavior in the cafe and keeping their voices low during lunch.
  • Walkthrough Feedback - Here is the link for the walk through feedback.  Please check in with Glenda if you were unable to process with a grade level team.
  • Report Cards -  I will receive a copy of the report cards to review and changes (if any) need to be made by Tuesday morning on March 28th. Report cards will be sent home on March 30th.
  • Recess - All classrooms have received recess supplies.  Please utilize them when you are outside and teach students games from the recess resources below.  Tag is not the best game to play outside on a cement landscape.  Please encourage other forms of exercise and play.
  • Updated Calendar
  • TeachPoint Reminder- All teachers: Don't forget to upload any pictures and/or evidence throughout the spring to TeachPoint.  Include the standard and/or goal that the evidence covers and a brief summary. 
    • New Due Dates - Evidence Due (Formative April 28th) (Summative May 27th)
  • Small Group Observations - Glenda and Liz will be coming around to all classrooms to observe small groups throughout the spring.  
      • Look Fors: rotation board/schedule visible and Guided Reading lesson
  • Peer Observations - scheduling is underway and teachers have already observed others.  If you have not begun peer observations, please reach out to your CITs.

    • Makeups done ASAP- Please look through your diagnostic status to ensure that students have completed their assessment. 
    • Once diagnostic is complete, students should resume personalized instruction lessons 2-3x a week. 
  • Math Fluency  
    • Make sure your growth analysis document is complete.  
    • Use your growth analysis plan created during Math PLT to target student intervention.

  • SW Extension Update: 2914 and 2951
  • SW Support Referral Form- This is a friendly reminder to please utilize the Social Work support referral form that was emailed out/discussed at staff meeting early in the school year. This form should be used when requesting non-emergency/crisis support. Some examples include:                                                                                                                                                     *An observation request                                                                                                                     *A social-emotional wonder/concern                                                                                                 *Collaboration/discussion of strategies to support a student or general concerns regarding a           student

  • Behavior Management Resource - Minors and Major Behaviors and De-escalation Strategies
  • Incident Report/Office Referral Requests:                                               
    • Please place all completed forms in the Social Work mailbox.                                   
    • Please ensure that each section/prompt on the form is filled out completely (i.e. child's full name, grade, steps taken, etc.) before submitting.                                                              
    • If there is more than one child engaging in a behavior/incident, please make the appropriate number of copies for filing purposes.                                                      
    • Glenda has asked that the following scenarios be an immediate phone call to either her office or the SW office in addition to completing an incident report/office referral as soon as possible:                                                                                                        
      • physical unsafe behaviors with staff members or other students (hitting, kicking, etc.)               
      • self-harm or threats of any kind                                                               
Health and Safety:
  • Recess has presented an increase of injuries.  The injuries occur most during activities that are unstructured.  Please use this resource guide as a means to support full class activities.
  • Please remind students to wear their masks properly.  Here is an awesome PPT that Marla, our behavioral specialist created.

Operational: 
 No PLTs, Glenda and Liz available if needed
  • Walkthrough Feedback - Here is the link for the walk through feedback.  Please check in with Glenda if you were unable to process with a grade level team.
  • Report Cards - Marks close today, March 18th.  Grades must be put into TAC by Thursday at noon on March 24th.  I will receive a copy of the report cards to review and changes (if any) need to be made by Tuesday morning on March 28th. Report cards will be sent home on March 30th.
  • Bus Evacuation - Our scheduled time is 3/22 starting at 9:00.  For those that are not familiar with this routine, it is an opportunity for students to know the layout of the bus and how to evacuate in an emergency.

  • Teachers in Grades 3-5: During the month of March, have your student's complete the practice lessons on TestNav and use this time to create lessons to familiarize your students with all the tools on Test Nav.
  • ELA PLT - There are going to be some shifts to a few ELA PLTs.  Please follow the schedule below in preparation for next week..

  • Learning Walks :  Next Wednesday, March 9, will be our Learning Walks. Our focus is Literacy. 
    • Four teams consisting of 2-4 members will be coming into classrooms in 15 minutes intervals. 
    • Each team will be observing the classroom set-up, the instruction given by the teacher and the student's use of reading strategies during literacy. 
    • You may teach either ELA Whole or Small group/Guided Reading during your scheduled time frame. You may need to adjust your Wednesday schedule to accommodate the visit.
