 Operational: 

There are no PLT's this week
  • Morning Duties - Classroom teachers and supports are supposed to arrive at school by 8:15 and are on active duty that time. Please make sure that all staff (including support staff) are outside to pickup classes at 8:15. Support staff that have preps in the morning can start their prep at 8:20. 
  • Please do not prop doors open at any time during the school day. This is a safety issue and we have heard from a few of our parents that this is a concern.   
  • Connery Beautification Project - This summer, Liz, Glenda, and Kim will work collaboratively to organize and declutter Connery Companeros in preparation for the reopening of our school as a new Dual Language.
    • If you are interested, please let us know that you'd like to volunteer.
    • If you know of parents that might be interested in this work, please let Glenda and Liz know.
  • The Math Deparment is offering paid summer Professional Development at Connery for Illustrative Math.  It will be for all grade levels and the teacher hourly rate.  Please let Glenda and Liz know if you are available the week of August 16th.
  • Drop in Sessions will also be available for the Interdisciplinary Units this summer.
  • If a student arrives in your classroom after 8:30, they must be sent to the office immediately. The office will mark them tardy. 
  • If you notice students in the hallway prior to 8:15, please advise them to go back outside.
  • Grades / Scores - It is important that Data Folders be used a tool (which students can take ownership of) and are visible in our classrooms as a way to increase transparency.  
    • Schoology is a another way to be transparent with students and their families regarding scores and grades.
  • Retention - Retention meetings continue. Please share your availability with Glenda and Liz if you submitted a form.
  • Multicultural Night (PPT) - 6/02- This is our 3rd Open House.  It is not optional, so please make sure that you save the date and arrange to be present. More details to come. Specialist and Support Staff schedule for Multicultural night 06.02.22 
  • MCAS Dance is coming! 05/26-  Donations are still needed. 
  • Field Trips - Please refer to email

  • Summer School: Springboard for students in current grades K, 1, 2 and 3. Springboard - Please apply if you haven't done so already.  The program is still looking for ten more teachers, so all that have applied will most likely be able to work the program.

A huge Thank You to Jess Bergeron and her family for filling the planters in 
the front of Connery last weekend. They are beautiful!!

MCAS testing has finished! Thank you to all who supported our students 
during the testing period. Make-ups will continue this week.

PLT's are Writing with Tracey and Cyndi in Glenda's office
  • Classrooms are cleaned this weekend! All floors will be waxed.  Please leave a floorplan for your room.

        • Lunches will be at the regular time (10:45am) and will need to be monitored by a proctor and/or another staff member. Preps will remain the same. Testing will pause at 12:00pm and any students still testing will be transferred to the library. 
        • Recess will only occur after the class finishes testing for the day.
        • Supports: Reading and ESL teachers will rotate throughout the testing period to help support classrooms. Look for your name on each week's MCAS directions document.
    • Grade 5 Directions: Grade 5 MCAS STE 2022 .docx

The timing for current 4th and 5th grade students is flexible for each school but should happen within the window of July 11th through August 11th. 
    • For all summer programming, it is understood that this is fully dependent on teacher availability and student enrollment.  
  •  Connery Assembly Schedule:  
    • Friday, 05/20/22: Grades PreK & K - 1pm    
ELA: 

I was informed that some reading teachers may need 30 minutes with 2 rotations; however, classroom teachers are still expected to have 3 rotations of 20 minutes. 

  • Running Records can begin at any time. Use this new data to adjust groups based on new reading levels.
  • Please remember to return each set of Guided Reading books after they are used.
Math:


    Social Work Updates:
  • SW Extension Update: 2914 and 2951. Please call our office and connect with a social worker before you send a student to us in our office. 
  • SW Support Referral Form- This is a friendly reminder to please utilize the Social Work support referral form that was emailed out/discussed at staff meeting early in the school year. This form should be used when requesting non-emergency/crisis support. Some examples include:                                                                                                                                                     *An observation request                                                                                                                     *A social-emotional wonder/concern                                                                                                 *Collaboration/discussion of strategies to support a student or general concerns regarding a           student          
  • Office Referral
  • Behavior Management Resource - Minors and Major Behaviors and De-escalation Strategies
  • Incident Report/Office Referral Requests:                                               
    • Please place all completed forms in the Social Work mailbox.                                   
    • Please ensure that each section/prompt on the form is filled out completely (i.e. child's full name, grade, steps taken, etc.) before submitting.                                                              
    • If there is more than one child engaging in a behavior/incident, please make the appropriate number of copies for filing purposes.                                                      
    • Glenda has asked that the following scenarios be an immediate phone call to either her office or the SW office in addition to completing an incident report/office referral as soon as possible:                                                                                                        
      • physical unsafe behaviors with staff members or other students (hitting, kicking, etc.)               
      • self-harm or threats of any kind   
      • any behavior that could be interpreted as or is sexual in any way (ie: showing private parts, issues in the bathroom, report of inappropriate touching or words, etc.)                                                       
Health and Safety:
  • Recess has presented an increase of injuries.  The injuries occur most during activities that are unstructured.  Please use this resource guide as a means to support full class activities.
  • Please let families know that students need sneakers for recess and gym - crocs have been a large part of accidents during this time.
