Things to Consider
Please read the weekly update carefully.

Operational:
PLT's this week will be Math with Katie.
  • Student Study
    • Academics - If a student's score ,in any content area, falls below two or more grades, they need to be brought up to student study immediately. Please reach out to your CIT and/or Math Teacher with questions about student data.
    • Behavioral - If a student's behavior is persisting longer than a week, they should be brought up in Student Study.
  • Progress Reports - Blank forms were delivered and will be in your mailbox by Monday.
  • Attendance - This is a gentle reminder that the first point of contact when a student is out for multiple days should be the classroom teacher.  We are beginning to send letters and hold attendance meetings for students with 6 or more absences.
  • Dismissal Procedure - Please complete and send a copy of your dismissal form to the office.
  • Reading Interventions - For grades 4 and 5, we will prioritize the students needs throughout the whole grade, as apposed to individual classes.
  • Groups/Independent Work - All small groups should be up and running for both ELA and Math.  This is the most critical part of our instruction.  It is where students receive individual intervention differentiated to their needs.
  • Bathroom - All students need to be sent to the bathrooms one at a time.  We have had some unfortunate incidents in the bathroom due to the large number of students in the bathroom at one time and unsupervised. (If you need to send a responsible "buddy" with a student, that is completely fine.  However, all students that don't have bathrooms in their classroom are allowed to travel independently.)
    • Reminder students from Grades 3-5 must sign in and out of their classrooms when going to the bathroom.
  • Food Pantry - Our first food pantry is coming up on Thursday, Oct. 28. Please plan to help us provide much needed food for our families by volunteering.
  • Homework - ELA and Math each day.  ELA is 15-20 minutes of reading.  For Math, students should have 15-20 minutes worth of grade level appropriate fluency practice.
  • Lesson Planning Expectations - (21-22 Lesson Plan - Connery Share)
  • Night Back -  Send this form to Carolina - attendance form
  • Clubs - Send the attendance form for these to Carolina.
  • Schoology Expectations - Admin has shared the following expectations for Schoology.
  • Cafeteria Table Assignments - Here are the table assignments for Grades K-5 for lunch and for Grades 1-5 for breakfast.  Click here for cafeteria assignments. Please make sure that each student has an assigned seat for lunch.
  • Wednesday Schedule - Please update your schedule on our Share Drive to reflect the early release and half days.
  • Attendance - This should be done every day by 8:45 AM.
  • Lockdowns - Explain to students that we will be practicing moving to a safe space in the classroom, staying quiet and in a sitting position.  Remember your doors should remain in the locked position.
  • Connery Assembly Schedule:
    • Friday, 01/21/22: Grade 1 - 1pm
    • Friday, 02/18/22: Grade 3 - 1pm
    • Friday, 03/18/22: Grade 5 - 1pm
    • Friday, 04/08/22: Grade 2 - 1pm
    • Friday, 05/20/22: Grades PreK & K - 1pm

  • Behavior Management Resource - Minors and Major Behaviors and De-escalation Strategies
  • Progress Reports - October 22, 2021
  • Sub Plans - Start to pull together activities to be used for an unplanned  absence. The Sub folder should include both Literacy and Math. Connect with your CIT when the folder is complete.
    • Folders will be kept in the CIT office. They must include copies of ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies for all students.  They should also include a schedule and class list.
    • This folder is meant for unexpected absences.
Literacy
  • Razkids - Your class rosters should be completed and families need to have this resource.
    • Our homework this year will include RazKids for 15-20 minutes a day.
  • All Running Records should be completed.
Math
New Staff Information:
  • All absences are put into Frontline Education. Full day requests are the only option. Contact your CIT if you are planning a personal day.
Technology:
  • Laptops: Please remind students to bring their laptops charged daily! Please assist your students in updating their laptops when necessary.

    • To help students and their families to remember to bring in laptops daily, each teacher could ask the class while they are outside in the arrival line "does everyone have their laptop, today?" If they do not, they can go let their parent know that they will need it at school today and every day. Parents can bring it to school after arrival.
    • If there are students who consistently forget to pack their laptop, you can send their names to Ms. Dunnigan or the CIT's and we will make phone calls home to remind parents.
    • This will be a process to get everyone on board remembering to pack their laptops charged daily, but after a few calls home we believe that the problem will be solved.
Staff Information:
Health and Safety:
  • Recess has created a slight increase at the nurse's office.  Please remember that recess can be an opportunity for community engagement.  In the past, we use this resource guide as a means to support full class activities.
  • Please remind students to wear their masks properly.  Here is an awesome PPT that Marla, our behavioral specialist created.
Misc. Info: Inventory for Professional Development - please complete so that we can track the books that we each have in our classrooms.
