                                                                        Grade 5 PLT

Things to Be Aware of and Keep in Mind
  • Sign In Sheet - Please sign in every day, and not ahead of time (unless you have a planned PD or Personal day).  The log is meant to document who is actually in our building in real time for emergency purposes.  There might be an unexpected absence, and we want to account for that.
  • Math Teacher - Moving forward Ms. Landino will join grade level team meetings for grades 3-5 on Thursdays, every other week, or when Grade 1-3 has PLTs.
  • Technology Prep for MCAS/ACCESS
    • All staff (including Art, Gym, Music, Library, Office, Rick, etc) need to restart devices (but leave on after restart) at the end of each day to ensure proper updates being pushed through and proper functioning of the devices.
      • Classroom teachers (and library) need to ensure that student computers are restarted (and left on) and the end of each day for the same reasons.
      • Whenever students / staff use laptops, these too should be restarted after each use.
    • Classroom teachers housing laptop carts need to ensure that the carts are plugged in at all times and also be sure that each laptop within the cart is connected to the charger (we have seen carts unplugged and even with the carts that are plugged in- laptops inside that aren't connected to the chargers).
      • Please keep the laptop carts and wires organized - we put the white cart back together on Monday (organizing the changers and cords) and we need to keep it organized.
      • Please make sure that people are signing laptops out when taking them and signing them back in when returning them.
      • If there is an issue with a laptop, don't just put it back in the cart. Please pull it out and let the CITs know so we can contact IT about the device and the issue - we are housing non-functioning laptops in the CIT office so they are all in one place when IT does come.
    • If teachers are experiencing tech problems for their own classroom computers or SmartBoards, they need to be submitting technology tickets to the service desk - we are finding that when we ask teachers about their tech issues and tickets submitted - many haven't even submitting tickets which will slow down the process of things getting fixed.
  • Thinking Ahead
  • Office Referrals - Please send GREEN office referrals to the office so that they are easily visible.
    • Thank you for completing referrals.
      • Please keep in mind that behaviors that are repetitive over time, and physical contact between students will be supported and resolved by admin.
      • However, most incidents (which should be documented on the green form), should be followed up by a teacher (including specialist teachers).
        • This could be, but not limited to: a student conference, peer mediation / conference, parent phone call.
          • When an incident is resolved, please write the work RESOLVED along the top of the form before placing it in admin mailbox.
            • This will inform Liz and Glenda when further action may be needed.

  • Please do your attendance on time each morning.
    • There are still some that are not getting completed by 9:00.
  • Folders - Please check your mailboxes each day.  Some yellow folders were not picked up this week.
  • All notices (including parent's notes) need to be sent to the office.
                                                     Updates from our Nurse
  • Don't forget to use your nurse passes when sending students to the office.
