Things to Consider
Please read the weekly update carefully.

Operational:
There are no PLT's this week due to the 1/2 day on Wednesday.
Please connect with your CIT if you would like them to
join you during planning next week.
  • Schoology Expectations - Admin has shared the following expectations for Schoology.
  • Cafeteria Table Assignments - Here are the table assignments for Grades K-5 for lunch and for Grades 1-5 for breakfast.  Click here for cafeteria assignments. Please make sure that each student has an assigned seat for lunch.
  • Breakfast: If a student arrives after breakfast (8:15) and grabs a breakfast to go, you can have the student sit at a back table in your classroom to eat until they finish their breakfast.
  • The first 1/2 day is this Wednesday 9/29. We will be completing Module 4 of Blended Learning.
    • Half day Lunch Schedule. Students are dismissed at 12:15pm:
      • Lunch 1 - 10:00 - 10:30am
      • Lunch 2 - 10:30 - 11:00am
      • Lunch 3 - 11:00 - 11:30am
      • Lunch 4 - 11:30 - 12:00pm
    • Please update your schedule on our Share Drive to reflect the early release and half days.
  • Attendance - This should be done every day by 8:45 AM.
  • Open House - Open House is on September 30th from 6-8.  For Open House, we have decided to go with a zoom session instead of in-person.
    • Please have a zoom link (under your LPS email) set up for the event.  Here are some documents where your link will need to be added. (Translator DocParent Communication)
    • Please communicate about your open house to all families.
    • For the event, we ask that a resource folder be sent out prior to the event that families can refer to: RazKids login, Teacher Contact Sheet (Best forms of communication), Homework, Attendance Procedures, Schoology Information, Classroom Procedures, Night Back Information etc.
    • Support staff will be joining your Zooms. Connect with them to coordinate what time would work best for them to join your classroom.
    • Further information regarding Open House will be sent early next week.
  • Fire Drills and Lockdowns - You should begin to practice the procedures for fire drill and lockdowns. Make sure that your doors are always in the locked position.
    • Fire Drills - Make sure that you have a clipboard or folder near your door with a class list and green and red paper in a clear sleeve attached. This clipboard should be taken outside with you. The sleeve will visually show us if you have all your class outside safely with you (green) or if you are missing anyone (red). When you exit the building, walk quickly towards the cars parked along the outside left parking spaces (houses and CVS drive thru) in the school yard.
    • Lockdowns - Explain to students that we will be practicing moving to a safe space in the classroom, staying quiet and in a sitting position.  Remember your doors should remain in the locked position.
  • Connery Assembly Schedule:

  • Behavior Management Resource - Minors and Major Behaviors and De-escalation Strategies
  • Progress Reports - October 22, 2021
  • Sub Plans - Start to pull together activities to be used for an unplanned  absence. The Sub folder should include both Literacy and Math. Connect with your CIT when the folder is complete.
 Literacy:
  • Reach for Reading is a resource. We are discussing the use of the Reach End of Unit Assessments with the ELA department. In discussion with the ELA department, we feel that the comprehension portion of the Unit tests do support our goals of independent reading. We will continue to give all portions of the assessments until we hear from Admin. but are in communication with them around our vocabulary concerns.
    • If you are assessing your students using Running Records, Guided Reading, Spelling Inventory and other Formative Assessments throughout each unit then you will have a pulse on each student and their reading level.
    •  The new Data folders will help to keep all this organized.
  • ELA Assessment - LPS has chosen an early literacy and reading assessment in lieu of Dibels.  The assessment is Renaissance Star Reading.  This assessment is similar to iReady ELA.  In an effort to support our growth and limit over assessing students, we will opt out of iReady ELA and focus on the district's new assessment.
  • Raz Kids - I have assigned all classroom teachers a RazKids account.  Here is some information about Class Rostering - Please make sure your classes are rostered for Razkids.
Math:
  • District Assessment Calendar - Click Here.
  • iReady window opens Monday, 9/27.
    • Make-ups are done in the classroom by the homeroom teacher. This is the same for End of unit Assessments.
    • Students need their headphones for all the assessments.
New Staff Information:
  • All absences are put into Frontline Education. Full day requests are the only option. Contact your CIT if you are planning a personal day.
Technology:
  • Laptops: Please remind students to bring their laptops charged daily! Please assist your students in updating their laptops when necessary.

Staff Information:
Health and Safety:
  • Mask -  Wear our masks appropriately (over our nose and mouth).  Our students model our behavior.
  • Please remind parents that their child must come to school with a mask each day!
    • Here is a message from Mayor McGee about our expectations:
      • ALL employees, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear a mask that covers their mouth and nose while inside on duty during work hours except for when they are seated at their cubicle/work station or using break time to eat or drink. This includes common areas (i.e. in hallways and stairwells, going to the restroom, etc.), during meetings, in city vehicles when occupied by more than one employee at a time, and interacting with the public. Members of the general public must also wear face coverings while conducting business in city buildings. If a visitor does not have a mask, they should be offered one by the department visited and business should not be conducted until the face covering is in place.

      • This policy shall also go into effect for school buildings, and respective employees currently working in them on the above date, and will be required at the start of the school year for returning staff and students, regardless of vaccination status.

      • The Lynn Public Health Department will provide masks for all offices before the close of business tomorrow. Appropriate signage will also be placed around all public buildings.

      • Department heads are instructed to enforce this policy with employees. Any employee not complying with the policy will be subject to the progressive discipline process (verbal warning, written warning, one day suspension, multi-day suspension, termination). Employees that cannot wear a mask due to a medical condition must provide documentation to the Personnel Department.
