Things to Consider
  • Reminder - On Wednesday, the Staff Meeting was moved to 2:00 due to scheduling for the presenters.  The links for the meetings this week are in the invites and will be on your calendar.
  • Open House - In an effort to releave stress and support our community, we requested if we can run the Open House remotely from home, and our request was granted!
    • Translators will be provided for classrooms.  Please make sure that they received your zoom invitation.
      • Here is the list of assigned translators!
        • Please note that Sargent Oswald is still working on getting two more translators by Monday.
      • Here is the document that I will be sending to families on Monday morning.  Please add your meeting ID for Open House.
        • Please create a new meeting for Open House
        • Please make sure that your passwork is Connery
  • LCHC - · LCHC employees can report to the school based health care centers but no students will be seen on site (Keep Safety and Social Distancing in Mind)
    • LCHC clinicians will schedule to see students on their caseloads but not during the core academic instruction
    • Specialized plans may be made for students who require services during academic time
    • Students who are SB-LCHC patients who have medical needs, physicals, immunizations, etc. can be seen at the 269 Union Street site from 8:00-4:30 with evening hours on Tuesday and Thursday. The dedicated phone number for that service is 781-598-8128
  • Zoom - Please consider the settings on your zoom account and make sure they are not restricted.  This continues to be an issue for students.
    • Suggestion - Keep an eye out for your waiting room and make sure you know who is entering your meeting.
    • Current Login Information
  • Schoology - Please make sure that Liz, Glenda, Katie L, Cyndi, and Amanda are invited to your courses.
    • Also, please make sure that you upload your picture to your course, so that we are aware of who the course belongs to.
      • We are requesting this because the name of the course cannot be adjusted.
  • Computer Logged in Incorrectly - A common issue that is happening is that students log into laptops incorrectly and then the screen is locked under the incorrect login.  Here are some directions to resolve that issue:
      • 1.      Make sure the laptop is plugged into the charger
      • 2.      On the bottom left side of the screen where it says ‘type here to search’ type in reset and then click reset this pc
      • 3.      Click on Get started
      • 4.      Click Remove Everything
      • 5.      Click Change Settings
      • 6.      Slide toggle to On
      • 7.      Click Confirm
      • 8.      Click Reset
        • The computer will restart a couple of times. When finished follow the setup instructions.
  • Parent Resource Troubleshooting for SchoologyClick Here - with translations
  • No Contact List - Like last year, we ask that you add no contact or no attendance students to the following form:
    • Limited Contact List
      • Please keep this updated
      • Once a student is contacted and regularly on lessons, you may gray them out
      • Our Wellness Team will be meeting regularly to go over student cases.
  • Facebook Page Caution from Admin -  there is a Facebook page called "Lynn Schools Remote Learning Support Group for Parents". We ask that you please communicate to your teachers and staff to refrain from posting comments on this site.
  • District Updates
    • System 44, Read 180, iRead, and Imagine Learning - Guidance document will be released early next week.
      • Still moving forward in order to model previous lit blocks; however, the computer component will be asynchronous at the end of the day.
    • All district resources will become a single sign on within schoology and will not require logins for students.  They will be a button that will become available for all students within their Schoology page.  Please expect 1-2 weeks for this to occur.
      • This will include all reading resources and ST Math.
    • Attendance - if you have trouble with TAC, use a hardcopy attendance.
      • If students are leaving early, please note this in the comment section - cloud on upper right hand of e-schools.  Make sure that your comment includes a time.
      • All teachers are now able to make a change on attendance, once attendance is posted. Absences can now be changed to tardies, but ensure that the time posted is accurate.
      • In an effort to support K families that have not received devices, attendance for students will be reset after device distribution.
      • Dismissals are only to be completed by clerks.
        • These are still only for early release, where a teacher and/or the school clerk are informed that a student has an appointment.
      • Please note that since going remote, our non-submission for attendance has increased.  Please remember to post attendance by 8:45 everyday!
    • Imagine Learning was purchased for all students as an afterschool asynchronous resource.
    • Science ResourcesNational Geographic Exploring Science
      • Digital resources, including ebook, are available to teachers and students in Grades 1-5 through the myNGconnect platform (same as Reach for Reading). The four attached files provide some additional information to help teachers/students navigate the online edition of Exploring Science.
      • I understand that the LPS Data Center will be rostering students & teachers for this program, but I do not know where they are at in this process.

Other – The following are a couple of free/open digital resources from the Massachusetts STEM @ Home List that your teachers may find helpful:

Math Assessments End of Unit District Assessments in Mathematics have been added to the Resource folder in the LPS Math District Resources K-12 in Schoology. Using the “Copy To” feature in Schoology, assessments can be added to another resource folder or directly to a course.

    • As we continue to get acclimated to our new way of teaching and learning, we are asking that when you administer the first End of Unit assessment online you keep your own student records. Additionally, please continue to use best-practice planning protocols both prior to and post instruction. Reviewing assessments collaboratively pre-instruction with grade-level planning teams allows us to see where our students are going and to plan for instruction, while analyzing assessment data post-instruction with grade-levels PLTs or PLCs ensures that we are providing data-driven instruction.
    • Just to be clear, we are not using TestWiz for the Unit 1 Assessments in Mathematics, but the assessments still need to be given. We are in the process of determining the best route/platform for administering all other district math assessments. In the meantime, please reach out to me if you have questions or need assistance with anything.

If you think your student qualifies but you have not received a card or a letter, call the DTA Assistance Line at 877-382-2363.
    • If a family no longer has their EBT card, getting a replacement card, more information will come starting October 1 and the family needs to check back on the website below for information.
